Fat Melting Injections

Injection-based treatment that targets small, stubborn pockets of fat on the body and under the chin — for patients close to their target shape.

What it is

Fat melting injections are an in-clinic, non-surgical contouring treatment for small, localised pockets of stubborn fat. At Klinik Amisi, the protocol is offered for two main use cases: targeted body areas where a small pocket of fat resists diet and exercise, and the under-chin area where excess fat softens the jawline definition.

The treatment is designed for adults who are already close to their target shape and want help refining a specific area. It is not a weight-loss programme and is not intended for patients with significant weight to lose.

A consultation is required before any first session so that our doctor can examine the area, review your medical history, and confirm whether fat melting injections are appropriate for you.

How it works

A solution intended to disrupt fat cell membranes is injected into the targeted fat layer through a series of fine needles, placed in a controlled grid pattern. Once the membranes are disrupted, the body gradually clears the treated fat cells through its natural metabolic and lymphatic pathways over the following weeks.

Because the action is localised to the injected area, the treatment is precise — but for the same reason, results build slowly across a course of sessions rather than appearing all at once. The under-chin protocol uses the same general principle but with a different injection pattern, depth and volume to match the anatomy of that area.

What to expect

Before your treatment

Your first visit begins with a consultation. We will discuss the area you want to address, your goals, your medical history and any medications you take — including blood thinners and supplements that affect bruising. You may be asked to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your session and to come with the area clean and free of makeup or skincare.

During the session

The area is cleansed and marked. For the under-chin area, topical numbing or ice may be used. A series of small injections is then placed across the area in a grid pattern. You may feel stinging, warmth or pressure during the injections. A typical body session takes 20 to 40 minutes; under-chin sessions are usually shorter.

After your treatment

Expect some swelling, tenderness and possibly bruising in the treated area. Under-chin treatments often feel firm and look puffy for several days as the area settles. Apply cold packs as advised, avoid massaging the area unless instructed, and stay well hydrated. Most patients return to normal activities the same or next day, planning around the visible swelling if needed.

Recovery and downtime

Recovery is generally mild but visible. Expect tenderness, swelling, possible bruising and a feeling of firmness in the treated area for several days. Under-chin treatments can swell more noticeably and may take longer to settle, which is worth planning around for events. Avoid heavy exercise, sauna and very hot showers for 24 to 48 hours. Visible contour change typically builds gradually across the treatment course as the body clears treated cells. Individual results vary.

Who is this for

Fat melting injections are typically offered to adults who are already close to their target shape and want help addressing a specific, localised pocket of fat — either on the body or under the chin — that has not responded to diet and exercise. The treatment is not a substitute for weight management.

You may be a candidate if you have:

  • A small, defined pocket of stubborn fat in a body area
  • A soft, fatty under-chin area you would like to refine
  • A BMI generally within a healthy or slightly above-healthy range
  • Realistic expectations about gradual change across a course
  • Willingness to attend follow-up sessions and follow aftercare
  • No contraindicating medical conditions or medications

Considerations and contraindications

Fat melting injections are generally not recommended for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have a bleeding or clotting disorder, who are on blood thinners that have not been reviewed, who have an active skin infection in the treatment area, or who have certain autoimmune or systemic conditions. The under-chin protocol additionally requires careful assessment of jawline anatomy, skin laxity and any prior treatments to that area. Always inform our doctor of any medications, allergies and medical history during your consultation, so we can confirm whether this treatment is right for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is fat melting a weight-loss treatment?
No. Fat melting injections are a contouring treatment for small, localised fat pockets. They are not a substitute for diet, exercise or medical weight management. The treatment works on specific areas, not on overall body weight.
Where can the treatment be used?
At Klinik Amisi, fat melting is offered for body areas with stubborn small fat pockets, and as a dedicated protocol for the under-chin area to help refine the jawline. Suitability of any specific area is decided during consultation.
How does it work?
An injectable solution is placed into the targeted fat layer using fine needles in a controlled grid pattern. The solution is intended to disrupt fat cell membranes, after which the body gradually clears the treated cells through its natural processes over several weeks.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients need a course of 2 to 6 sessions, usually spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. The exact number depends on the area, the volume of fat, and your individual response. Your doctor will outline a plan after assessing the area.
Does it hurt?
You may feel a stinging, warm or tight sensation during the injections. For the under-chin area, topical numbing or ice is often used to improve comfort. Mild tenderness for a few days after the session is common.
What does recovery look like?
Expect mild swelling, tenderness, redness or some bruising in the treated area for several days. Under-chin treatments may swell more visibly for a few days. Most patients are able to return to normal activities the same or next day.
Are there any side effects?
Common, temporary effects include swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness or itching in the treated area. Less common effects are reviewed in your consultation. The under-chin area requires careful technique and a thorough medical assessment beforehand.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the area treated and the recommended number of sessions. Please consult our team for current rates and any package options.
