O-Shot

Platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood and injected into the intimate area as part of a tailored wellness protocol.

What it is

O-Shot is an autologous platelet-rich plasma treatment offered as part of the intimacy pillar at Klinik Amisi. The treatment uses a small sample of your own blood, which is processed in-clinic to isolate the plasma fraction with a higher concentration of platelets. That plasma is then injected into specific points in the intimate area as part of a wider wellness plan.

PRP is described as autologous because the only biological material used is your own. No donor blood, no synthetic implant and no hormonal product is introduced. The growth factors carried by platelets are the active element that the treatment is designed to deliver to the local tissue.

A medical consultation is required before any first session. Our doctor will review your medical and gynaecological history, discuss your goals, perform any necessary examination and confirm whether O-Shot is appropriate for you. PRP is not a substitute for the diagnosis and management of underlying gynaecological conditions, and patients with unexplained intimate symptoms should always be assessed first.

How it works

A small volume of your blood is drawn from your arm in the same way as a routine blood test. The sample is placed in a centrifuge that spins the blood at a controlled speed, separating it into layers. The platelet-rich plasma layer is drawn into a syringe.

After topical numbing has had time to take effect, the prepared plasma is injected into a defined set of points in the intimate area. The growth factors carried by platelets are intended to support a localised tissue response over the following weeks. The mechanism is local rather than systemic, and the treatment does not deliver hormones.

What to expect

Before your treatment

Your first visit includes a consultation with our doctor, a review of your medical and gynaecological history and an examination if appropriate. Tell us if you are or could be pregnant, are taking blood-thinning medication, have a known bleeding or platelet disorder, or have any active vaginal, vulval or urinary infection. Hydrate well in the 24 hours before your appointment, as this helps with the blood draw. Avoid alcohol and non-essential anti-inflammatory medication for 24 to 48 hours before the session, with your doctor’s guidance.

During the session

A small volume of blood is drawn from your arm. While the sample is processed in the centrifuge, topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area. Once the plasma is ready and numbing has taken effect, you will be positioned similarly to a routine gynaecological examination and the injections are placed in the planned points. Most patients describe pressure or a brief stinging sensation rather than sharp pain. The full appointment usually takes 45 to 60 minutes.

After your treatment

You can usually leave the clinic immediately and return to most daily activities. Mild tenderness, slight swelling or light spotting in the first 24 to 48 hours is common. We ask patients to avoid intercourse, tampons, swimming and hot tubs for approximately 3 to 5 days, and to avoid hot baths and vigorous exercise for at least 24 to 48 hours.

Recovery and downtime

O-Shot is considered a low-downtime treatment for most patients. There is no surgical incision and no general anaesthesia, and most patients return to work and gentle daily activities the same day. Mild local sensitivity and short-lived spotting are the most commonly reported experiences. Anything beyond this — heavier bleeding, fever, increasing pain, abnormal discharge or signs of infection — should be reported to the clinic promptly. Tissue response typically continues to evolve for several weeks after a session, and individual results vary.

Who is this for

O-Shot is typically considered for patients who are exploring non-surgical intimate wellness options after a proper medical assessment, and who can have a clear discussion about realistic expectations.

You may be a candidate if you:

  • Have completed a consultation and assessment with our doctor
  • Are at least 3 months post-vaginal-delivery and have been cleared by your obstetrician
  • Are exploring an autologous (own-blood) treatment approach
  • Want to incorporate PRP into a wider plan such as Vaginal Rejuvenation Laser or HIFEM pelvic floor sessions
  • Understand that PRP is not stem cell therapy and is not a guaranteed solution
  • Are willing to follow aftercare guidance and attend any recommended follow-ups

Considerations and contraindications

O-Shot is not suitable during pregnancy or while actively trying to conceive. It is also not appropriate for patients with active vaginal, vulval, urinary or systemic infection at the planned treatment site, known or suspected gynaecological cancer, undiagnosed abnormal bleeding, or known bleeding and platelet disorders. Patients on anticoagulant or strong antiplatelet medication require individual review, as do those with poorly controlled diabetes or active autoimmune disease. Recent intimate surgery, an abnormal recent Pap smear or current breastfeeding are situations requiring discussion with your doctor. Always disclose your full medical and gynaecological history at consultation. Our doctor will confirm whether the treatment is appropriate for you and ensure you have given full informed consent before any session.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is being injected?
Platelet-rich plasma is prepared from a small sample of your own blood. After the draw, the sample is placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma fraction that contains a higher concentration of platelets. That plasma is then drawn into a syringe and injected into specific points in the intimate area. Nothing from another person, and no synthetic implant material, is used.
Is the procedure painful?
Topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area before the injections, which is the part most patients are concerned about. Most describe pressure or a brief stinging sensation rather than sharp pain. The blood draw itself feels like a routine venipuncture.
How quickly will I notice a difference?
Some patients report changes within a few weeks as local tissue responds, while others see more gradual changes over 8 to 12 weeks. Individual responses vary considerably and are not guaranteed. Your doctor will discuss realistic expectations during consultation.
How many sessions will I need?
Some patients have a single session, others choose a course of two or three sessions spaced approximately 4 to 6 weeks apart. The recommended plan is decided after your consultation based on your goals and assessment.
Is it the same as stem cell therapy?
No. PRP uses the platelet-rich fraction of your own blood. It is not a stem cell treatment, and it should not be marketed as one. The growth factors carried by platelets are the active component.
Are there any risks?
Because the material is your own blood, the risk of allergic or transmissible reaction is very low. Possible short-term effects include mild bruising at the blood-draw site, local tenderness, light spotting and short-lived swelling. Less common risks include infection or longer-lasting discomfort. Your doctor will go through the full informed-consent discussion before treatment.
Can I combine O-Shot with other intimate treatments?
Yes — it is often incorporated into a broader plan that may include Vaginal Rejuvenation Laser or HIFEM pelvic floor sessions. Any combination plan is designed by your doctor and tailored to your situation.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the recommended plan and any package options. Please consult our team for current rates.
